Super Dimensional Game Neptune Coming West

Sunday, October 31st, 2010

The bonkers Compile Heart RPG ‘Super Dimensional Game Neptune’ that was published by SEGA in Japan will be coming to the West. The game is loosely based on console wars and contains numerous references to past SEGA titles. NIS America will be publishing it in North America. NIS America Inc, Europe will also be bringing the game to Europe.

However, the game will be getting a name change to Hyperdimension Neptunia which is just as odd as the literal Japanese translation. There is no news of any other cuts to the game as the SEGA references might not be licensed to NIS America. The game will be hitting Western shores in Spring 2011.

Edit
SEGAShiro.com can confirm that the SEGA references will remain intact in the Western version.

Free Valkyria Chronicles Theme on Playstation Network

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

There’s a rather lovely Valkyria Chronicles theme now available on the Playstation Network. This is a bit of a strange move seeing as the game was released 2 years ago, but cool none-the-less. It’s also free, so you shouldn’t miss an opportunity to flaunt a great game on your PS3!

SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2 Confirmed for PSN and XBLA

Thursday, October 21st, 2010

SEGA will be releasing high definition ports of Dreamcast titles SEGA Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5 Part 2 on X-Box Live Arcade and Playstation Network in early 2010.

“The release of these games marks SEGA’s ongoing effort to bring its best-sellers from the Dreamcast era to the latest consoles,” said Haruki Satomi, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA.

“We want to enable a new generation of players to experience some of the most celebrated titles our video game history has to offer, while at the same time appealing to our enthusiastic and much appreciated community of fans.”

Personally, I’m really happy to see Space Channel 5 making some sort of a comeback. Maybe they should add Move and Kinect support to keep things fresh and on the same level as similar games like Just Dance. Only time will tell.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 Accidentally Confirmed

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Valkyria Chronicles 2 has only just been released in the UK and it’s been receiving some rather glowing reviews. Then SEGA of Japan’s web-team accidentally leak news of Valkyria Chronicles 3! Well, I suppose it isn’t a leak.

What’s happened is that SOJ published a GIF image showing SEGA’s Tokyo Game Show line-up. Some clever-clogs has decided to replace the extension to a JPG instead and discovered another image showing the TGS line-up with the ‘mystery’ slot replaced with ‘Valkyria Chronicles 3′. Internet users still amaze me.

No word on whether this will be a PSP or PS3 release but I’m sure we’ll get the full scoop when TGS rolls around.

Exciting times indeed!

Vanquish Demo Now Available

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Vanquish, the third-person shooter from Platinum Games is now available in demo-form from the X-Box Marketplace and Playstation Network. Unlike Platinum Games previous title Bayonetta, Vanquish’s lead platform is the PS3 which means both versions of the game are near identical (unlike Bayonetta which had considerably lower performance on PS3). Take a look at this rather tasty video Eurogamer.net’s Digital Foundry did showing each version’s performance and then get to downloading!

Vanquish is due for release later this year. Play.com has the UK release down for the 22nd of October. Fingers crossed!

Fast Striker Coming to Dreamcast Winter 2010

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The Dreamcast strikes again!

NG:Dev Team have ported their Neo Geo shooter, Fast Striker to the Dreamcast and are planning a Winter 2010 release. The game is available to pre-order from their shop now in 3 versions; a regular version, a special edition with a bonus soundtrack CD and a bundle of both versions for those of you who want both for collectors’ purposes (or just have far too much disposable income!).

See below for the game’s trailer and make your decision as to whether you want another shmup for your Dreamcast. Personally, I can never have enough shmups!

All hail the undead console!

Sonic Adventure XBLA Dated and Priced for the US

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

It appears that the X-Box Live Arcade version of Sonic Adventure will be making it’s way to the US on September 15th for the low, low price of 800 Microsoft points. I think the price alone has changed this re-release from curiosity to must-buy. If you have yet to experience Sonic’s first Dreamcast outing then there is no excuse now!

No news on the Playstation Network release or any UK release dates are currently available. We will be sure to post them as soon as we know!

We’re Back!

Sunday, August 29th, 2010

That’s right folks, SEGADriven.com is back and ready to rock!

The site is now hosted with The Sonic Stadium Network which means we’re now a part of a lovely group of sites run by people I can honestly call my friends.

Along with the move to the TSS Network, the entire website has been converted to WordPress to make updates easier ongoing. If you notice any broken links/images/errors etc please report to me as they shouldn’t be there! I’m hoping I’ve picked up on everything but you know how these things are… I’m only human!

So there you have it; we’re back and things are working better than ever. Stay tuned for a review of Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack (what a mouthful!) coming very, very soon!

More Info On Spencer Nilsen

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I’ve added some additional information on Spencer Nilsen in the Musicians section.

Spencer’s website conveniently forgets he composed the soundtrack for Ecco: The Tides of Time. I haven’t heard it myself but if Spencer can’t remember he created it doesn’t fill me with much hope that it is any good! It’s also available on the CD ‘Ecco: Songs of Time’ which I provided a track list for.

The Sonic CD soundtrack is also available on CD as Sonic the Hedgehog Boom along with some arranged versions of tracks from Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball. Details on this have been added as well.
