You probably know I’m a big supporter of Sonic fangaming and if there’s one game I can’t wait to get my hands on this year, it’s Sonic the Hedgehog Classic. Developed from the ground up by Hez, this fangame pays homage to Sonic’s Mega Drive era. Taking influence from all Sonic’s 16 bit titles, Sonic the Hedgehog Classic is an entirely original game that looks and plays exactly as you’d imagine a Mega Drive Sonic game should. The Dreamcast modding scene is one of the most fascinating chapters of SEGA fandom. It has a remarkably loyal fanbase who do some incredible things like add extra LEDs, create custom paint-jobs, cut shapes in the cases as well as add windows in the disc cover.
This amazing mod features a completely hand cut Skies of Arcadia symbol which is illuminated with extra blue LEDs that sit in the disc tray. The whole thing is completed with a lovely, gloss finish. This is truely a sight to behold:
