Yuji Naka’s Prope studio have just revealed a new fishing game for the Wii appropriately named Family Fishing. The game’s main focus is obviously fishing, but you are given free reign to explore the resort using different vehicles. There also appears to be a new fishing rod peripheral available to use with the game.
The game is to be published by Namco Bandai and not SEGA and is due for release August 4th 2011 in Japan. There’s currently no word on a Western release.
Here’s a nice little oddity for you all! I’ve recently been backing up old VHS home videos and found this little clip of me playing Sonic the Hedgehog in the arcade at 6 years old. Check it out:
In a post on Yuji Naka’s twitter today, the legendary programmer of Sonic the Hedgehog revealed Prope Discoverer for iOS devices. The game uses the Unreal Engine and looks remarkably similar to Epic Citadel; a tech demo for iOS that also uses the engine. Check out some screenshots below:
The premise of the game is to discover hidden cards to give you access to different portions of the castle. It can be downloaded from the UK app store now for £1.79.
Massive thanks to both Iizuka-san and Naka-san for taking time out of their busy schedule to answer questions from 2 crazy fanboys! An extra special ‘thank you’ also goes to Svend Joscelyne for organising this for us. We are forever in your debt!
Another year, another Summer of Sonic. Except this time, you cannot fob it off so lightly. This year’s SoS was THE SoS. Julien-K? Jun Senoue? Takashi Iizuka? YUJI NAKA!?!? It literally had everything a Sonic fan could want.
But how about a little insight from the perspective of member of staff? Well look no more!
It’s the 20th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog! You know what that means? A complete, 8-bit Sonic fan game!
Darkleo over at the Sonic Fan Games HQ forums has released Sonic Origins 2; a Sonic fan game that features more than 20 levels and is completely based on the Sonic games released for the SEGA Master System. Take a look at some screens below:
SEGA have revealed a new teaser for Aliens: Colonial Marines; the FPS from Gearbox that’s been in development since 2006. The game is due for release in January 2012 and is confirmed for show at E3 2011 which takes place in Los Angeles this month. Check out the teaser below:
Movie games are a right old mixed bag, aren’t they? For every Spider-Man 2 there’s a hundred Enter the Matrix’s. But they’re so tempting! I mean, who doesn’t want to play one of their favourite action movies?
The wonderously cheerful Helen Doherty is at it again with a charming little retrospective on the Game Gear/Master System versions of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2.
Treasure’s classic side-scrolling brawler Guardian Heroes is coming to X-Box Live Arcade this autumn. SEGA are re-releasing the Saturn title with their love-it-or-hate-it smoothed graphics option seen often in their Mega Drive collections. New game modes and online co-op is also confirmed.
SEGA executive Haruki Satomi released this comment, “Ever since we began to make SEGA’s classic Dreamcast and the Mega Drive titles available for modern systems, the fan response has been overwhelming – and the demand for their favorite games has been pouring in. Players have been clamoring for this treasured favorite from the Saturn days, and we cannot wait to show them what we have got for them.”
Hopefully this re-release will pave the way for other SEGA Saturn games to come to XBLA and hopefully Playstation Network. Fingers crossed!
