Aliens: Colonial Marines Ships 1.3 Million Units, SEGA Publishing 5 Vita Games and 7 Wii-U Games This Year

Friday, May 10th, 2013

Aliens: Colonial Marines may have been a critical flop but that still hasn’t stopped people buying it. SEGA have managed to shift 1.3 million copies of the game across Xbox 360, PC and PS3 which is a similar amount to Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

Another great seller is Football Manager 2013 which has managed to ship 940,000 units on PC alone. Well done Sports Interactive!

In other news SEGA have revealed they are publishing 5 PS Vita games and 7 Wii-U games this year. It hasn’t been revealed what the titles are but that’s a lot of SEGA for Vita and Wii-U owners.

Anonymous TimeGate Employees Spill The Beans on Aliens: CM’s Troubled Development

Tuesday, February 26th, 2013

Eurogamer have unveiled a feature that sources various anonymous TimeGate Studios employees who reveal the troubled development of Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Key points include:

– “when TimeGate began to work on Colonial Marines – then codenamed Pecan – as it became apparent that Gearbox had ignored the game for years. According to three staffers, Gearbox had focused the vast majority of its efforts on Duke Nukem Forever, Borderlands, and Borderlands 2.”
– “It’s unclear exactly how much of Gearbox’s work TimeGate was able to salvage with one source claiming that the studio decided to start fresh”
– “TimeGate was the only developer actively working on Colonial Marines starting at the end of 2010.”
– “Both Gearbox and TimeGate also operated very differently. “You could not pick two companies whose general workflow is more diametrically opposed,” said one source”
– “The game feels like it was made in nine months,” said a source who worked on the project. “That’s because it was.”

Aliens: Colonial Marines Development Was Outsourced to TimeGate Studios

Tuesday, February 12th, 2013

An ex-Gearbox employee has revealed that the majority of Aliens: Colonial Marines was not developed by Gearbox Software.

The un-named employee has said:

“Hate to say it, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high for Colonial Marines. I used to work at Gearbox, and the development of that game has been a total train wreck, going on what, six years now? Gearbox isn’t even making the game, except for the multiplayer. Primary development was outsourced to TimeGate Studios, which has a less than stellar past.”

TimeGate Studios are known for the game Section 8: Prejudice and various DLC packs for FEAR.
