Follow on Twitter @kronkblats Fan Scene: Shenmue MuralTuesday, December 28th, 2010Dreamcast Collection ConfirmedTuesday, December 14th, 2010SEGA’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has told Game Informer that a packaged Dreamcast collection is on its way ‘soon’. Pritchard’s full comment is as follows: “The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system. We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it’s an important part of our business. We’ve already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi [for one].” Still no word on what systems it’s going to be released for or a solid release date yet. Spring 2011 is definately our bet. The original listing (which has since been pulled) on Gamestop listed PS3 and 360 as the collection’s platforms with a temporary release date as February 15th. My favourite bit? Why thanks for asking: “Yu Suzuki: If Miyamoto was the father of gaming, I suppose that makes me the mother. JM: [Laughs] I think Shigeru Miyamoto was probably more the mother. He’s the one finding inspiration from his garden. You were making the games about motorcycles and jets and punching and shooting people. So you’re the daddy.” Click here to read part 1 of the interview. You can also read the 2nd part by clicking here. It’s totally worth it. Follow on Twitter @kronkblats Fan Scene: Sonic RebirthWednesday, December 8th, 2010Fangames are just spilling out at the moment! We’ve mentioned Sonic Rebirth on SEGADriven before because it featured heavily at SAGE 2009. The game is a complete remake of Sonic the Hedgehog for Mega Drive with elements and stages from the 8 bit version added as well. It’s a beautiful little project that features almost entirely new graphics that contain a lot of pastel colours. Leon, the game’s developer has recently released a new build that corrects some of the issues with the last. These include: * The addition of caterkillers in Marble Zone The new build can be downloaded by clicking here. So that’s 2 full Sonic fangames in the space of 4 days. Follow on Twitter @kronkblats Fan Scene: NiGHTS Christmas ReverieSunday, December 5th, 2010Core, a user at the Sonic Stadium Message Board has released a Christmas NiGHTS themed fangame today. Now you can enjoy a rather substantial piece of NiGHTS fangaming on your PC. The game includes a variety of different gameplay modes such as Normal Dream, Christmas Dream, Chase Mission, Battle, Race and a very cool Sonic mode. Seeing as we may never see a NiGHTS into Dreams or Christmas NiGHTS re-release, this is a welcome addition for anyone who is a fan of the purple, flying jester.
