Feature: Julian Hazeldine’s Speedrun: The Unauthorised History of Sonic the Hedgehog

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014

Well isn’t this an interesting little revelation! Julian Hazeldine has produced a book entitled Speedrun: The Unauthorised History of Sonic the Hedgehog. Yes; an actual book! About Sonic!

Reading material about the Sonic franchise is pretty thin when you consider the only other book in this market is Pix’n Love’s The History of Sonic the Hedgehog so we happily welcome some competition. But is the book any good? You can find out in our SEGADriven exclusive review by clicking below.

Review: Risky Woods

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

Risky Woods is a notoriously difficult Amiga game that features a fantasy setting. You must navigate the stages freeing monks from stone statues to progress whilst avoiding an unbelievably large number of enemies that consistently respawn. The Mega Drive port goes some way to try and correct these flaws but does it do enough?

Capt’n Havoc is a platform game for the Mega Drive developed by Data East. The game puts you in control of a seafaring, pirate seal called Havoc who must save his friends Bridget and Tide after they’re kidnapped by an evil pirate named Barnado.

We now have a review of the title live in our First Party Reviews section. You can also click below to go straight to the review.

It’s my favourite irregularly occurring time again! New Dreamcast game time! This time NG:Dev.Team deliver a new shoot-em-up in the form of Neo XYX which marks the 2nd vertical shmup from the developer and the first to feature a portrait resolution. What did we think? Click below to find out!

Review: Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators on Master System

Thursday, March 6th, 2014

globalsms02

Licensed games don’t come as bizarre as Mick & Mack as the Global Gladiators. This strange title sees you take control of a child who is tasked with ridding the world of toxic waste monsters. Oh and it’s licensed by McDonalds. Wait… what?

If you want to find out exactly how peculiarly this concept is executed you can now read our review of the Master System version of the game.

Review: DUX, DUX 1.5 and Redux: Dark Matters

Saturday, February 8th, 2014

A new review!? That doesn’t happen very often!

Today I bring you a bumper review in the form of 3 Dreamcast indie games. We have decided to review DUX, DUX 1.5 and Redux: Dark Matters as a single, bumper review simply because the games are so similar and it’s a lot easier to compare the pros and cons against each of the games.

Click here to be taken to the full review or alternatively go the Dreamcast section under ‘First Party Reviews’ on our sidebar.
