Currently working on a Switch remake of Panzer Dragoon, Forever Entertainment have now confirmed they will be developing remakes of the original 2 The House of the Dead titles.
No platforms have been specified at this time, but given that the Panzer Dragoon remake is coming to Switch, it’s a safe bet that the Switch will be one of the platforms that Forever Entertainment will be targeting.
It’ll be interesting to see how Forever Entertainment develop a modern on-rails shooter as it is not a genre that has seen much of a resurgence this generation. We’re only speculating but perhaps they will incorporate gyroscopic controls or VR support.
Hopefully it isn’t too long before we get to see Forever Entertainment’s efforts. The company have stated that it would be wise to follow their official channels if you’re interested in any of their SEGA remake projects.
The lovely people over at ThrowBack Tokyo have recorded some extensive off-screen footage of House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn in action at the recent location test in Akihabara. As the footage shows, it’s very much the House of the Dead sequel we’ve all been waiting for, complete with campy voice acting and over-the-top, zombie-shooting action. Like The House of Dead 4, the violence has been toned down somewhat, with the zombies now burning away when they’re dispatched. However, the amount of on-screen zombies has been drastically increased. Click the embed below to see for yourself:
SEGA Japan have revealed a new House of the Dead arcade title called House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn. This will be the first new House of the Dead title since The House of the Dead: Overkill in 2009 and the first Japanese-produced House of the Dead since The House of the Dead EX, also released in 2009.
Location tests start at the Akihabara Club SEGA arcade on the 19th of January 2018. There is currently no word on a Western release or a home console port at this time.
