Fan Scene: Make Your Own Mega Drive Version of Sonic 4

Monday, September 27th, 2010

I love stuff like this. SEGA Addicts have put together a set of graphics you can print at home and insert in an old Mega Drive game to magically transform it into a Mega Drive copy of Sonic the Hedgehog 4! Of course, you won’t be able to play Sonic 4 on your Mega Drive but it won’t half look awesome next to your copies of Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles!

You can download all the files you’ll need by clicking this link. So hop to it and get creative!

Valkyria Chronicles 3 Accidentally Confirmed

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

Valkyria Chronicles 2 has only just been released in the UK and it’s been receiving some rather glowing reviews. Then SEGA of Japan’s web-team accidentally leak news of Valkyria Chronicles 3! Well, I suppose it isn’t a leak.

What’s happened is that SOJ published a GIF image showing SEGA’s Tokyo Game Show line-up. Some clever-clogs has decided to replace the extension to a JPG instead and discovered another image showing the TGS line-up with the ‘mystery’ slot replaced with ‘Valkyria Chronicles 3′. Internet users still amaze me.

No word on whether this will be a PSP or PS3 release but I’m sure we’ll get the full scoop when TGS rolls around.

Exciting times indeed!

SEGA Tunes: Skies of Arcadia Title Theme

Monday, September 6th, 2010

Let’s not beat around the bush here; SEGA games have always had the best music. End of. There is no argument. SEGA composers and musicians have always got the absolute best out of their limitations (back in the pre-32 bit era) and have gone on to make fantastic compositions worthy of greater attention. Why game music is not regulalrly on sale in the West is beyond me because things like Video Games Live have proven there’s an audience.

Enough. This update is about SEGA music. Songs like Skies of Arcadia’s title theme show exactly why game music should not be frowned upon. This piece is beautiful.

Vanquish Demo Now Available

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Vanquish, the third-person shooter from Platinum Games is now available in demo-form from the X-Box Marketplace and Playstation Network. Unlike Platinum Games previous title Bayonetta, Vanquish’s lead platform is the PS3 which means both versions of the game are near identical (unlike Bayonetta which had considerably lower performance on PS3). Take a look at this rather tasty video’s Digital Foundry did showing each version’s performance and then get to downloading!

Vanquish is due for release later this year. has the UK release down for the 22nd of October. Fingers crossed!

Fast Striker Coming to Dreamcast Winter 2010

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

The Dreamcast strikes again!

NG:Dev Team have ported their Neo Geo shooter, Fast Striker to the Dreamcast and are planning a Winter 2010 release. The game is available to pre-order from their shop now in 3 versions; a regular version, a special edition with a bonus soundtrack CD and a bundle of both versions for those of you who want both for collectors’ purposes (or just have far too much disposable income!).

See below for the game’s trailer and make your decision as to whether you want another shmup for your Dreamcast. Personally, I can never have enough shmups!

All hail the undead console!
