The Sonic Amateur Games Expo will return in 2026 and event week as been set for September 11th to the 18th 2026.
This annual indie gaming event started as a way to showcase Sonic the Hedgehog fan games, but has since expanded as a platform to showcase any independent gaming development. Sonic fan games still feature heavily, but games like Freedom Planet, Frogun, Spark the Electric Jester, and Pizza Tower have all been showcased at prior SAGEs.
Instructions on how to submit your game to SAGE are available on the Sonic Fan Games HQ forum, so head on over there if you’ve got something you’d like to feature at this year’s SAGE.
Submissions must be made by August 15th 2026, so make sure you make your submissions in a timely fashion if you want to be showcased at this year’s SAGE.
The Sonic Amateur Games Expo is returning in September 2025! Event week has now been set for September 19th to the 26th, and submissions are now open for any budding fan game, homebrew or indie developer to showcase their work.
Detailed instructions on how to register have been posted on the Sonic Fan Games HQ forum, so click here to read the guidelines post if you’re interested in showcasing a game at SAGE 2025.
Game submissions must be completed by September 5th 2025 to ensure a place at this year’s SAGE. This also includes any video submissions if you’d like your game to appear in the pre-event trailer that will go live the week before the event.

The 2024 edition of the Sonic Amateur Games Expo is about to kick off later this week (Friday September 6th 2024 to be exact), and now we have our first look at some of the games that will be featured at the event. Check out the full 19 minute showcase trailer via the embed below:
SAGE 2024 kicks off Friday September 6th 2024 and runs for an entire week, closing on September 13th 2024. SEGADriven will be spotlighting as many games as we can over on our YouTube channel so make sure you’re subscribed if you want to see our coverage of the event.
The Sonic Amateur Games Expo is set to return next year! The great news is the Sonic fangaming show will also be returning to its original bi-annual format with the first show taking place from February 23rd to March 1st. The 2nd show has yet to have a date set in stone, but if past SAGEs have taught me anything then it’s a safe bet to place it around August/September time. More on that as we get it.
Full details about the next SAGE can be found at Sonic Fan Games HQ as well as a complete set of guidelines for booth registration. Registrations must be completed by February 15th 2014.
