The Sonic Hacking Contest 2015 is now live and we’ve been attempting to review as many of the hacks as we can. We probably won’t get a chance to look at them all but you can check out 9 of them in the following 3 round-up videos on our YouTube channel:
The Sonic Amateur Games Expo will return on December 18th 2015!
If you’re a fan game developer you can now submit your entries for this year’s showcase but you must follow these guidelines:
“Game entries must be submitted to sageentry@gmail.com.
Each game entry must have the following:
– A title/logo to display for it’s respective game, PNG format, at least 500 x 500.
– A description of what your game submission is all about, including any links to soundtracks, websites, game credits, or miscellaneous information about your entry.
– A zip file containing your game.
– All game entries must be submitted by December 11th. If your game will not be finished before that time, it will not be featured in the event.
– ROM Hacks are allowed, given they significantly change something about the games they are based on.
– Personal webpages that link outside of SAGE, or “booths,” are not a part of this year’s event. However, each game will have it’s own “booth” on the main SAGE website.
– Your submission must be a complete demonstration or full release of your game project.
– If you have multiple game projects to submit, please follow the submission guidelines for each project.
– If you have an engine to demonstrate, it will be put under a different category differing from regular game submissions. Engines must follow the same guidelines as stated above.”
A massive 12 minute preview of Hez’s Sonic Classic 2 fan game is now available to watch in HD on YouTube. Hez appears to be making huge progress on the game and I personally cannot wait to give it a go:
The original Sonic the Hedgehog Classic is still available to download and play on PC via this link.
Our 3rd review round-up for this year’s Sonic Amateur Games Expo is now live. In this round-up we have in-depth reviews of Sonic Xperience and Sonic X-Treme 2D. We will continue to run more review round-ups throughout the event and try to cover as many games as possible.
The fan created online MMO Shining Force Online begins its public beta at some point today. The game is created with the original Mega Drive franchise in mind and uses a combination of new art assets from the Gameboy Advance remake as well as new art by developer unFun Games.
The game will be played in browser and will be accessible via this link. The game is currently unavailable but keep checking back for updates.
Ironrind has released a new version of his wonderfully unique, perspective-changing, Sonic fan-game, Sonic CB. You can see a trailer for the new version below:
