Shenmue City Screenshots

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Famitsu has got their hands on a whole heap of screenshots from the upcoming Shenmue City mobile phone game being released in Japan.

Click here and scroll down to see what us Westerners will be missing!

The game appears to be made up entirely of pre-rendered graphics and isn’t actually running its’ own 3D engine at all. Interesting stuff.

Yu Suzuki Wants to Make Shenmue 3 Happen

Tuesday, November 16th, 2010

Yu Suzuki, the SEGA legend that has been MIA for sometime now is gearing up to release Shenmue City, a new mobile phone game only available in Japan. No plans are currently underway to bring the game to the West but more importantly, what is happening with Shenmue 3?

When questioned Suzuki has responded with, “I want to make 3 with the same volume as in the past.”

“Shenmue has the image of grand scale, but making something of grand scale requires appropriate preparation. I want to make 3 with the same volume as in the past. There have actually been a lot of requests from fans for 3 as well. There were even petitions signed by tens of thousands of people. I wanted to carry out my obligations for the series.”

The Shenmue series is based on an 11 chapter script that Suzuki wrote prior to the original game’s development. Putting the remaining chapters into one game is something Suzuki will “have to consider” if Shenmue 3 goes into development.

“It would be possible to finish the entire story in a single game if we were to show just the highlights and skip over parts,” said Suzuki.

The future of the Shenmue series is currently in the hands of Shenmue City; if the game performs well SEGA will do “additional things” with the series. Could that mean the green light for Shenmue 3 or a Western release for Shenmue City? Or could it mean something different all-together? Shenmue: Forklift Racing anyone? Only time will tell…

House of the Dead Overkill 2 Rumoured

Thursday, November 11th, 2010

According to information gathered by Nintendolife.com, development of House of the Dead Overkill 2 is well under way and is expected to be released “sometime early or mid-2011″.

“Details on the game are still undisclosed, but what we’ve been told is that a title codenamed House of the Dead: Overkill 2 is being worked on, which we assume is for Wii and potentially PSMove,” said the site.

Exciting times! The original House of the Dead Overkill is still one of our favourite Wii games and held the Guiness World Record for most f-bombs in a video game.
