Limited Run Games Producing GBA Video Version of Night Trap

Sunday, April 2nd, 2023

Limited Run Games are pressing a Game Boy Advance Video version of Night Trap. The game is not playable with its original mechanics, but all the video files from the original release will be viewable in this GBA Video version.

Night Trap is a notorious FMV title first released on the Mega CD in 1992. You must use a surveillance system in order to trap the invading “augers” from attacking and sucking the blood from the various inhabitants of the homestead.

The pre-order is only open for the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of April 2023, so if you’re interested in owning an entirely passive version of Night Trap for the GBA then get your orders in before 11:59pm eastern time. The title will set you back $49.99 without postage. Click here to be taken to the store listing at Limited Run Games.

Night Trap to Get 25th Anniversary Re-Release on PS4 & Xbox One

Wednesday, April 26th, 2017

Cult teen-horror FMV title Night Trap (which SEGA fans will remember for its infamous SEGA/Mega-CD port) is to be re-released on PS4 and Xbox One for the game’s 25th anniversary.

Originally developed for the unreleased Hasbro Control-Vision, the FMV adventure game was originally supposed to use VHS tapes and it’s these tapes that have been sourced to provide the in-game video used in this 25th anniversary port.

The port is not being handled by SEGA but an independent studio called Screaming Villains. Screaming Villains have also made the game’s theme song available for free download from their website.

Limited Run Games will also be producing a physical release for the PS4 and the artwork has been made to resemble the American SEGA CD and 32X artwork. While pre-orders are not available yet, it might be worth subscribing to their mailing list so you’re the first to know when the physical version will be made available.
