The Amiga is infamous for its hilariously terrible port of Out Run developed by US Gold, but that has now changed thanks to the work of Reassembler. A new homebrew port of the game that uses ROM data from an actual arcade dump of Out Run is now available to download and aseemble yourself using Python. It runs on later Amiga 1200 computers as well as the CD32, A4000 and A500 Mini.

Assembling a working ROM and following the readme file supplied with the download turns out to be a little beyond my capabilities, but if any of our readers get this working and would like to report back then please let us know in the comments. This looks like a really impressive piece of work that I’d love to try myself.
