SEGA’s executive vice president of sales and marketing Alan Pritchard has told Game Informer that a packaged Dreamcast collection is on its way ‘soon’. Pritchard’s full comment is as follows:
“The Dreamcast fans are very devoted. You see on eBay people are still buying the games and system. We actually have a Dreamcast collection coming out soon. We are looking to bring some of the old Dreamcast games to market digitally and packaged. The titles are still to be announced. The Ultimate Genesis Collection did huge numbers on PS3 and 360, so it’s an important part of our business. We’ve already been releasing some Dreamcast games digitally; Crazy Taxi [for one].”
Still no word on what systems it’s going to be released for or a solid release date yet. Spring 2011 is definately our bet. The original listing (which has since been pulled) on Gamestop listed PS3 and 360 as the collection’s platforms with a temporary release date as February 15th.
