Sonic Christmas Blast
Synopsis
The UK DVD release of Sonic Christmas Blast – a Sonic the Hedgehog TV special from 1996. Despite finishing its syndication in December 1993, Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog would be revived for this one off Christmas special that first aired on November 24th 1996. The humour and tone of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog is intact and Jaleel White returns to voice Sonic with Long John Baldry returning as Dr. Robotnik. Interestingly, elements of the Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM cartoon are introduced. Sally Acorn makes a silent appearance as well as the Swat Bots and Robotropolis itself. The special was originally going to be called ‘An X-Tremely Sonic Christmas’ and was produced as a tie-in to Sonic X-Treme for the SEGA Saturn. When the title was cancelled it was decided the special would tie into the Saturn port of Sonic 3D Blast, hence the title Sonic Christmas Blast.
