The Game Genie was programmed by Codemasters and manufactured by Galoob. The device allows you to lock on any Mega Drive cartridge and enter codes that change perimeters within the game. Codes were often distributed by gaming magazines of the era in a similar way to cheat codes. Game Genie codes can be written by any user by experimenting with the location and content of the variables associated with the symbols in a Game Genie code.
