AtGames SEGA Mega Drive Portable Video Game Player (6 Button Variant)
The 6 button variant of the AtGames SEGA Mega Drive Portable Video Game Player released in 2009 and has the exact same features as the 3 button variant but now includes 6 face buttons and an SD card slot for side-loading Mega Drive ROM images. The ROM files need to end in the .bin file extension otherwise the console cannot read them. The console also features a larger, higher quality LCD screen and a mini USB port which can be used to charge the system’s lithium battery pack. Unfortunately, this variant of the handheld now suffers from poor sound emulation that was not featured in its predecessor. This can be corrected with use of homebrew software like the Neto Boot Loader which also enables the user to change the console’s region and refresh rate for better software compatibility with import titles.
