Spencer Nilsen is an North American composer most famous for his work on a variety of Mega CD titles. His music style favours a more atmospheric sound than that based on themes.

He is also the creator of the controversial North American soundtrack to Sonic CD. The change in soundtrack is rumoured to be because SEGA of America didn’t think North America was ready for techno music or that they couldn’t license all the songs that had been sampled in the Japanese/European soundtrack (such as ‘Work That Sucker to Death by 1970s artists Xavier, Bootsy Collins and George Clinton). Fans are still split to this day as to which soundtrack they prefer.
