Arcade News: Storm-G Hitting Joypolis in March

Sure, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games is… erm… nice… and all, but I bet you all want a real reason to get into the winter sports mood don’t you, SEGAHeads? Well worry no more, because Sega Japan have announced Storm-G, an arcade sit-in bobsled racer that has you reaching speeds of 185mph. That’s right. A bobsled. You get to race in a bobsled. At 185 miles per hour. How sweet is this!

The cabinet, shown above, will house eight bobsleds, with each pod able to seat two players. Twin joysticks are used to play the game whilst inside, which you can use to increase your speed and rotate your sled 360 degrees.

Look at that screenshot above. Now that’s Sega, that is. The game will be installed at Sega’s Joypolis Amusement Park in Tokyo around March 2009. We’ll be heading to Japan in April, and you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be heading down to play it. If you fancy a go on it when it opens, the ride will cost ¥600 (£4.50) for a ten minute race of snowy awesomeness.

All this news makes me want to go and watch Cool Runnings now. Jamaica, we have a bobsled team!
