SEGA Club Genesis (Unreleased)

The SEGA Club Genesis was an unreleased variant of the Mega Drive II/Genesis that was presented in a blue case design and red accents. This was not the only SEGA Club product to get cancelled as a similarly themed 3 button control pad and Mega Mouse were also axed in favour of selling excess Japanese stock of 6 button controllers which were marketed as being for “smaller hands”. The SEGA Club line of products was a brand initiative established by SEGA America in July 1994 to target younger children. It mainly ended up focusing on releasing age appropriate software that normally featured licensed characters from franchises like The Berenstain Bears, The Magic School Bus and Sesame Street.
