Now here’s a game I never expected to see on Western shores!

SEGA America have committed to bringing 7th Dragon III Code: VFD to America. SEGA have never brought any 7th Dragon games to the West previously so this is quite a shock.

Developed by imageepoch, the games are produced by Rieko Kodama of Phantasy Star fame. The soundtracks are also produced by legendary SEGA composer Yuzo Koshiro. Take a look at the announcement trailer below:

The first trailer for 7th Dragon III: code:VFD has gone live. You can check it out below:

As we previously learned, the opening theme is called Annabel and it’s by Vocaloid artist sasakure.UK. What we failed to pick up on is the fact Yuzo Koshiro has signed on for the game’s soundtrack which is pretty exciting news for fans of his work.

7th Dragon III: code:VFD launches in Japan on the 15th of October exclusively for 3DS. There is no word on a Western release and it’ll be unlikely that we get one seeing as the previous games have all been Japan exclusive.

Review: Bare Knuckle III/Streets of Rage 3

Sunday, February 1st, 2015

The final Streets of Rage game is a polarising one. While the first two games in the series are universally praised as classic beat-em-ups, the third game just doesn’t get the same amount of love. This might be because depending on whether you’re playing a Japanese or a Western version of the game you’re in for a quite a different experience.

SEGA Tunes: Jungle Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog (8 Bit)

Tuesday, February 18th, 2014

It’s been a while since we took a look back at some classic SEGA anthems and I thought it was worth featuring the below track simply because it’s been stuck in my head all morning!

Today we are taking a look at the rather lovely 8 bit ditty that is the theme to Jungle Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog for Master System and Gamer Gear. The track was composed by Yuzo Koshiro who is more famously recognised for his thumping, dance style and the Streets of Rage soundtracks.

The Sonic the Hedgehog 8 bit soundtrack showcases Yuzo Koshiro in a lighter, more poppier mood yet still manages to be a highly memorable collection of songs. Hopefully you will all be whistling the Jungle Zone theme once you’re done with this!
