During the 2017 Tokyo Game Show, Tomoya Ohtani performed a short live set of music from Sonic Forces to promote the upcoming Sonic Team title. He was joined on stage by vocalists Jon Underdown and Nana Hatori and the performance has become infamous for Ohtani’s use of the air horn sound effect. You can watch the set by clicking below:

SEGA Tunes: The Sonic Forces Vocal Theme is Predictably Sung by a Pop Punk Vocalist of Yesteryear

Thursday, July 6th, 2017

SonicForces-Logo-1024x713

In keeping with the theme of Sonic Team dredging up pop punk vocalists whose popularity climaxed around 2003, the Sonic Forces vocal theme ‘Fist Bump’ features Douglas Robb from Hoobastank. This is pretty in keeping with mainline Sonic Team-developed Sonic titles as we’ve previously experienced themes by Zebrahead and Jaret Reddick from Bowling for Soup.

We’d previously heard an untitled instrumental version of this track back in March, but this version features Robb singing along with the main guitar melody. Check it out below:

Sonic Forces releases on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC around Christmas this year and is being developed by Sonic Team.

SEGA Tunes: Watch Takenobu Mitsuyoshi Perform Let’s Go Away Live in the Studio

Sunday, April 5th, 2015

segatunes1

Takenobu Mitsuyoshi is the voice of many of your favourite SEGA themes but if he’s remembered for one in particular it has to be Let’s Go Away from Daytona USA. He also strikes me as a man who absolutely adores his work and that certainly seems like the case if you watch him perform this live rendition of Let’s Go Away in the studio. Press play, crank the volume and let Mitsuyoshi-san take you away:

SEGA Tunes: Audio Sprite’s Charity Remix Album

Tuesday, May 13th, 2014

Audio Sprite is currently in the process of creating a video game/kids TV remix album with the proceeds going towards CLIC Sargent, a charity for children’s cancer.

In a rather moving gesture which was inspired by the loss of a friend’s 11 year old brother, Audio Sprite has remixed a selection of SEGA classics which includes a Yu Suzuki medley and remixes of songs from Sonic CD and Shenmue. You can check out the work-in-progress album below:

If you think the album is worth a donation then you can visit Audio Sprite’s JustGiving page and help out a good cause.

SEGA Tunes: Marble Madness Remix Album

Tuesday, March 11th, 2014

First things first; yes, Marble Madness is an Atari arcade game and not a SEGA game per se, but we at SEGADriven regard any game published for a SEGA first party console fair game for feature on the website. As Marble Madness was released for Master System, Game Gear and Mega Drive it’s entirely relevant to us.

Now that’s out of the way, allow me to present ‘Where Good Marbles Go to Die’; a Marble Madness remix album courtesy of Stemage. The hard rock/heavy metal remix album tackles the entire Marble Madness soundtrack and features guest appearances from Disasterpeace, Lauren Liebowitz of Descendants of Erdrick, norg, XOC, Kirby Pufocia, housethegrate and VikingGuitar.

You can stream the entire thing using the below widget or alternatively download it at a pay-what-you-want price-point. Sadly the limited edition cassette version of the album is now sold out but at least it’s available digitally, right?
