Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Content Update Available Today, Adds Sonic The Hedgehog And Several Other Characters, Raid Battle Mode

Thursday, January 14th, 2021

Puyo Puyo Tetris 2’s first major update has been released, and it brings along with it 4 new characters. Alongside fan-favourite characters such as Lidelle, Ms Accord and Ocean Prince from the Puyo Puyo Fever titles, Sonic the Hedgehog himself has joined the Puyo Tetris battlefield – and it’s not a mod this time!

Other additions include a raid-style boss battle mode, inspired by a similar feature in Puyo Puyo Chronicle. You can earn Skill Battle cards not available through Adventure Mode by teaming up with other players to take on boss characters. Speaking of Skill Battle, the Sonic-themed cards have now been added into the main game, too.

There’s also four new music tracks, to go along with the new characters; including Tropical Resort, from Sonic Colours.

This… certainly came out of nowhere. We suspect this is what SEGA Europe were teasing for tomorrow’s stream, in which case they weren’t kidding about it being special. Currently only the Japanese announcement is available, but our Playstation 4 downloaded the new update, and Sonic and company are indeed present and accounted for.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 on Steam Upgraded to Complete Edition, Existing Owners Receive All DLC For Free

Friday, November 8th, 2019

Owners of Valkyria Chronicles 4 on Steam are in for a treat, as the game has now been rebranded to the Complete Edition – even for those who already bought it!

The Complete Edition replaces the listing for the original release, and comes in at £39.99 – except now, you also get all of the DLC included in that price. And if that wasn’t enough, SEGA’s gone back and applied this retroactively to anyone who already purchased the game! So picked up Valkyria Chronicles 4 at launch and wish you’d waited for the Complete Edition? No need – you get all of the DLC for free!

It’s pretty generous to say the least, and a welcome move from SEGA. We can’t remember the last time ‘Game of the Year’ or ‘Complete Edition’ goodies got retroactively given to existing customers, so it’s a pleasant surprise.

Magical Sound Shower DLC for Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum Session Now Available in the West

Tuesday, March 5th, 2019

A while ago, we reported that OutRun’s iconic track “Magical Sound Shower” was due to be made DLC for the Japanese version of the game. The good news is that said DLC has also been released in the West as of today.

The track is available as part of the “Donder Pack Vol. 16”, or on its own from the ingame DLC menu for 79p. The track is the original version of the song from OutRun’s arcade release – also making it quite the endurance run, as it’s a pretty long song!

Namco Bandai UK’s Tweet about the release can be seen here:

Taiko No Tatsujin: Drum Session Adding Out Run’s “Magical Sound Shower” as DLC in Japan

Thursday, December 20th, 2018

The latest PS4 iteration of Namco’s beloved drum-em-up Taiko No Tatsujin is getting a fresh dose of SEGA rhythm action, as one of the newly announced DLC packs for the game includes music from SEGA’s arcade classic Out Run.

Unsurprisingly, “Magical Sound Shower” is the track being added, considered by many as the Out Run song. It’s not made clear if it’s the original arcade arrangement, a later arrangement from the likes of Out Run 2, or even a new arrangement for the game. There’s not long to find out however, as the DLC pack it’s included in, “Don Na Pack Vol. 16”, will be released in Japan on January 24th 2019, for 500 yen. The pack also includes music from the anime High Score Girl and Darius II.

Also somewhat related to SEGA is the next DLC pack, which was released today in Japan; a collection of Hatsune Miku songs, including the smash hit Senbonzakura. This pack weighs in at a rather fitting 390 yen.

The Japanese DLC page for Taiko No Tatsujin Drum Session is available here. Currently there isn’t anything to suggest this DLC coming to the Western versions, but we’ll keep an eye out in case it does.
