Tickets Now On Sale for 30th Anniversary Edition of Sonic the Comic Con | Fan Scene

The return of Sonic the Comic Con was previously revealed last month, but now you can actually purchase tickets for the UK-based event via their Kickstarter which is also how the event is securing its funding. Funding has already been achieved at the time of writing, but tickets are still available for another 30 days.

This special 30th anniversary edition of the convention is celebrating 30 years of the original comic and will feature guest appearances from original Sonic the Comic writers and artists like Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson, Lew Stringer, Carl Flint and Ferran Rodriguez. Also in attendance will be Dave Bulmer and Chris McFeely; the hosts of Sonic the Comic the Podcast.

While tickets can only be purchased from the Kickstarter, additional rewards in the form of prints, t-shirts and original art can also be pre-purchased from the Kickstarter.

Sonic the Comic Con Returns May 20th 2023 in York UK

Sonic the Comic Con is a fan-run UK Sonic the Hedgehog convention that celebrates the UK Sonic the Comic publication, and it’s now returning on May 20th 2023.

Run by the talented Sonic the Comic Online team, the convention previously ran in 2014 in York and again in 2018 in Manchester. The convention returns to York this year and will be located at the York Railway Institute Sports Hall on Saturday May 20th 2023.

Tickets are not yet available but the official social media channels promise they are coming soon and it looks like the organisers will be using Kickstarter to secure funding and deliver tickets. Keep your eyes locked on the SonicTheComicUK social media if you’re interested in funding/attending the event.

Kickstarter Now Open for UK Sonic Fan Fest Event Opening in October 2023

The organisers of the previous unofficial Sonic the Hedgehog fan convention Weston Super Sonic are returning for another round, but this time with a new name and a new location. Sonic Fan Fest is the continuation of Weston Super Sonic, but now taking place in Bristol in the United Kingdom on October 14th 2023.

The show promises independent traders, gaming consoles to play, a quiz show, live music, an art zone, guest interviews and competitions. Kickstarter is being used to secure funding for venue hire and the payment of guests who have not been confirmed at the time of writing. Previous Weston Super Sonic guests have been Sonic the Comic writer/artist Nigel Kitching and artist Richard Elson.

Early bird tickets are available for £10 and only raising to £15 when early bird tickets have sold out. If you are based in the UK or even happy enough to travel to the UK, the event should be a major addition to any Sonic fan’s calendar.

Gotta Go Fast: The Official Sonic the Hedgehog Panel Confirmed for SXSW, takes place March 20th 2020

SEGA’s recently announced Sonic 2020 initiative is off to a flying start – earlier today it was announced that SEGA AGES Sonic 2 will release on the eShop on February 20th, and now it’s been confirmed that Sonic will once again make his presence known at the SXSW expo in Texas, as the annual Sonic panel returns for 2020.

The panel’s onsite description is as follows:

Sonic the Hedgehog is back at SXSW! Join special guests from SEGA and Sonic Team as they talk about the latest for the blue blur and his next steps for 2020 and beyond. There’s almost always a special announcement or two to be had, so be sure to stay tuned!

The panel is usually hosted on the 16th, but the switch to the 20th conveniently lands it within the Sonic 2020 campaign. As for what’ll be announced there – only time will tell!

Summer of Sonic Returns 6th of August, Now Seeking Crowdfunding

Summer of Sonic will return on the 6th of August and is now seeking crowdfunding in order to make it happen. The event will take place at the ILEC Conference Centre in Earls Court, London UK.

A Kickstarter has now been launched with a funding goal of £20,000. At the time of writing £1520 has been pledged with 29 days to go.

Pledging towards the Summer of Sonic Kickstarter wields bonuses depending on the tier you choose. There are standard £20 tiers to guarantee entry as well as exclusive backer t-shirts that start at £15 (no entry ticket included). You can get a ticket and a t-shirt for £35.

There is also a very special VIP pass for £120 that allows you to get to the front of all queues (entry and signings) as well as meet the guests in a special meet and greet.

Sonic 25th Anniversary Event to be Held in San Diego on July 22nd

A Sonic the Hedgehog 25th anniversary event has been revealed. The event will take place at the San Diego House of Blues on the 22nd of July. Tickets are available now and can be bought by clicking here.

The event was announced at a recent Sonic the Hedgehog retrospective panel at SXSW. Sonic the Hedgehog social media guru Aaron Webber also hinted at another Sonic game reveal for the event but wouldn’t commit to a definite, “there will be a new Sonic game announcement at this event” so take those comments with a pinch of salt.

Sonic Boom 2013 took place in St Louis, Missouri on August 10th and saw Sonic fans gather at The Pageant for a day of Sonic-themed fun which included appearances by Crush 40, Takashi Iizuka and Kazuyuki Hoshino. You can see a short recap video of the day’s events below:

The Sonic Show have put together this wonderful documentary which takes a retrospective look at this year’s Summer of Sonic and all the effort that goes into putting on an event like this. It’s a wonderfully heartwarming little tale that genuinely brought a tear to my eye. Make sure you watch this:

The Megadrive Band to Play Summer of Sonic

The band previously know as SEGA Megadrive Band, who we discovered playing Crooked Ways Festival in June, have rebranded as The Megadrive Band and are playing a set at Summer of Sonic.

The Megadrive Band are playing the main stage at Summer of Sonic during the afternoon slot and promise to bring a series of covers from early games featured on the Mega Drive.
